Michelle Obama, Move on Over

Wednesday was a killer workout for arms and abs. Brian came armed with his whistle and goody bag, and he was going to kill us with sweetness. :)

We first performed a medley of bicep curls and triceps, and bent rows, using dumbbells, rubber tubing, and our own personal body weight. This was challenging! These exercises tested both endurance and strength, and took me to muscle failure. Yeah, Brian always gets me on those triceps! :)

The campers and I were begging for relief. :) That's a good thing! I was done. And excited too!

Though my triceps are still in need of "Brian's Specials" (lol) and in need of extensive attention, I am getting stronger in my biceps. I have begun transitioning to the 10lb weights. I can't do it on all of them, but I can complete a few sets with them. I can even see a little bicep bump popping up! In fact, I believe I'm gonna have Michelle Obama's arms in another 5-6 months! (lol) Heehee! :) Sweet! Brian does NOT mess around.

Our ab routines were outstanding. We did clusters of crunches, bicycles, oblique work, etc, and they were also designed in a repetitive fashion to create muscular failure. I actually enjoy the ab work for the most part, because I am at a point where I am good enough to enjoy most of the exercises. I am able to feel my muscles working rather than laying out like a wet noodle.

But again, I have learned that nobody can underestimate Adventure Boot Camp and what the trainers will add for a little spicy mix. In my case, Brian has got a very creative mind. ;)

So here came the best part. Brian announced that the last round of exercises would be the "plankers". Plankers? Is that an affectionate term? Sounds a little too endearing to me. :) When he started calling them "plankers" I knew we were headed for "trouble", and he was going to pull something out of his sweet little goody bag other than chocolate! :)

Yikes! Wasn't that something like those "treats" he rewarded us once before as we completed our tough morning in boot camp? You know how it goes; treat the muscles not the appetite?! (lol)

Well, Adventure BootCamp is ALWAYS fun, but today had to be the trifecta! Brian concocted a game in which we arranged ourselves in a circle and our mission was to hold the plank for as long as it took for the entire circle to go around and answer his question. Then the next question; and the next. Of course, if someone couldn't think of an answer, the longer we had to hold the plank. Whew! That could be a long time if the campers wearn't wearing their speedy thinking caps. (lol)

The first question was: "Who was your first kiss?" Oh my, now we're going back in history. Most of the women rattled off quite quickly until we came to a camper that hesitated. Someone was stumped for an answer. We were dyin'! We cried out for the camper to just "make something up"! We still had half the circle to go around, and we were still holding Brian's "planker".

The response was quite charming. "Her father". Ok. That is so sweet that I'll take my goodies with the pain. :) It was worth the wait.

The questions became more sophisticated, so obviously we were progressing into longer plank holds. This was torture!(lol) Hee-hee! What a sight to behold. And all of us did exactly what we were told. Didn't see one camper get up and say, "I "ain't" gonna torture myself"! :)

Finally I was wondering if I had any abs. I didn't feel anything. (until the next day! :) We went through a few more questions and then it was time to stretch.

Brian mentioned that next time we could do some storytelling as a way to keep the "plankers" dear to our hearts. Now I can just imagine it: not only will we be scrambling our brains to think up the story line on the go, but Brian will probably instruct us to do those reverse planks to amp up the fun! (lol) Hee-hee. Brian, you got a mischievous and naughty bent! :)

I have to say this was a great twist on the "treat bag". I can't wait to see what other games will come our way. I just know that whatever he puts together, I'm gonna have abs of steel and some sleek, sexy arms with cut triceps.

Michelle Obama..........move on over! Here we come! :)
