We had some terrific ab work that consisted of planks, russian twists, bicycle crunches, the penguin, and the chop saw. I know I need to ramp up my ab work, because the last few times I was not able to do as much as before. I use to do crunches on my stability ball a few times a week on my own time, and I have neglected in doing so. Every little thing we do really does add up.
It reminds me of that old cliche.....you don't know what you miss till you lose it. Same goes for all those extra little things we don't think about. I used to have to walk back and forth 3/4 mile to work each way, everyday and never considered it part of my exercise. But the weight started creeping when that little extra ended.
Our cardio was killer, because we did lots of great things for our legs as well as for our heart and lungs. We did figure 8 cones, step ups, line jumps, speed squats, and frog jumps.
The most challenging was running the large circle doing the fartlek method. I ran by myself, and though I was trailing, my breathing wasn't too bad. It wasn't until the last stretch that I had to slow to a walk.
The "Gold Star" said she had run 5 miles without stopping last night with a friend. She admits, running with someone makes all the difference in the world. I don't really have a running buddy on my side of town, but it sure sounds like something worth pursuing, even if I have to go online to find one! Does anybody know of any forums I could join to find a running buddy? Would appreciate any suggestions.
The morning ended with a little Nutrition Support group to pump a few of us up with a little motivation for the holidays. One of the subjects that came up was how difficult it is to stay on task when you are out of routine such as traveling. Work travel is also difficult if you spend all day in the car going from one client to another, and have neglected to pack a healthy lunch.
Eating in restaurants for all your meals can be disastrous. And unfortunately all you see on the road are places to eat! So even if you weren't thinking of eating something naughty, that ice cream shop just showed up around the corner.
It is more difficult to control you environment when you are on the road. Yes, I can attest to that!
We also talked about running in the various events around town. I mentioned in another post, it seems that running in the marathons and holiday fund raisers is the rage with many of our campers! So buddy up and try one for the future! It would definitely be more fun than going by yourself. Its the camaraderie that makes it so worthwhile and awesome!
Wednesday will be our last workout for the week, fitness warriors. This will be a total body workout, so hope Brian will bring it home to us!
See you tomorrow. The pink tiger will be kickin' it with you!
