Slammin' It in The Great Pumpkin Patch

Who'd have guessed that such sweet, orange pumpkins could create such a grueling workout? This was creativity at its best!

As all the campers situated themselves at camp, all eyes were turned towards the little pumpkin patch that Brian had created for our pleasure. :) Yes, curiosity and inquisitive imagination were flowing at a pique. What could he possibly have in mind for us to do with all this orange fun? :)

Brian had provided us with pumpkins of multiple sizes and shapes, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on one of those little "Mr. Happy" pumpkin heads! Which one would be mine? It was like picking your favorite horse at a riding stable before any of the other kids could get to it!

We were going to do a lot of different things with these little orange friends, and Brian wasn't trading down from his usual tough and fun workouts. I always know when he's got me good because I have problems getting up from a seated position the next day! Hee-hee! And he didn't fail us today either! He designed a total body workout that was slammin' awesome! :)

Such as it was with this orange delight, as we played in Brian's homemade pumpkin patch. The first circuit we did involved working our legs, core and using the Pumpkin like a medicine ball. This was much tougher than you might anticipate. There was some weight with this little fella, and it worked everything simultaneously. One set that really worked the glutes divinely was doing the chop squat, and then coming up with the pumpkin overhead. It was murder! It even worked the chest muscles because of how the little devil had to be held!

I looked over at the Gold Star and blinked. " Is this for real, I whispered to her?" "This is really, really hard", I managed to express between my breathless groans.

She giggled and continued to laugh. Oh my God....this was too funny, almost hilarious! Getting down with that pumpkin challenged all of us and it was amazing! All along I cried to my friend that I still had not recovered from Friday and Saturday workouts that nearly killed me. :) I was so stiff, sore, and tight, but I wasn't gonna let my pumpkin down!

As we continued to do an assortment of creative exercises with our orange friend, campers were giggling with delight, laughing, and groaning! Legs, back, core and abs...... it was all a challenge. It was heavier than you might think, and alerted my muscles that I was doing something different here. Some of my favorites which I found to be authentic killers was using the pumpkin during the walking lunge, the shoulder press, and a chest press. One of my favs in the camp, "Blazin' B" was getting very ambitious during those walking lunges, and worked her orange ball like a military press. Awesome! I tried, and it was all I could do to keep moving and try to duplicate a little chest press with it! :) We also used it doing a back row which was very effective. I grabbed the little stub and held it like a barbell. :)

By the end of the workout, I was feeling great, my body happy and very tired. This was something else! (hee-hee!) I got a phenomenal workout that surprised the heck out of me! I enjoyed it so much, that I went out and got a pumpkin to work out with me at home. I still have him and I call him Henry. :)

So all you slackers that missed this workout for whatever reason, you missed an original class that I deemed a true inspiration! :) It made me realize that if you can pick up a big ole piece of fruit like a pumpkin and work your muscles till they cry for mercy, you can always be innovative and find something in your environment that will do the job. Its just about how bad you want it! :)

This was a slammin' workout! It was so original, so fun, that I was thankful that Brian designed something new and innovative to keep the workouts fresh and motivating. Sometimes when the body gets tired, you can be in danger of burning out. I was near that point after the killer combo workouts from Friday and Sat.

I think one of the great things you get out of the Adventure BootCamp, is that it teaches you to create your own "little pumpkin patch" no matter where you are! So how 'bout you? Are you gonna create a little pumpkin patch of your own? :)

Thank goodness for little pumpkins. :)

the pinK tiger.........going orange......
